Stove Top Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup carbonated lemon-lime beverage
  • 2 -3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (3 1/2-4 lb) broiler-fryer chickens, cut up

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. pour half into a large resealable zip-lock bag; add chicken. seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 2 - 4 hours, turning once. cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.
  • 2 drain and discard marinade from chicken. transfer chicken to a large skillet; add reserved marinade. bring to a boil.
  • 3 reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until chicken juices run clear.
  • 4 note: when my sister made this, she used 4 oz boneless skinless chicken breast and let it marinate overnight.
