Turkey And Dressing Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 celery rib, chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup coarsely crumbled cornbread
- 1 cup cubed day old bread
- 2 tablespoons chicken or 2 tablespoons turkey broth
- 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chicken or 1 cup turkey broth
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups cubed cooked turkey
- dry breadcrumbs (optional)
Recipe
- 1 in small skillet, saute celery and onions until tender.
- 2 transfer to a large bowl and stir in corn bread, cubed bread, broth and seasonings.
- 3 transfer to a greased 1 qt baking dish.
- 4 for gravy.
- 5 melt butter in large saucepan.
- 6 whisk in flour and salt until smooth.
- 7 gradually add broth and milk.
- 8 bring to a boil, reduce heat, cook and stir for 2 minute.
- 9 remove from heat. stir a small amount of hot mixture into the egg and return all to the pan, stirring constantly.
- 10 bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir for 2 min longer.
- 11 spoon half of the gravy mixture over the dressing.
- 12 layer with turkey and remaining gravy.
- 13 sprinkle with bread crumbs if desired.
- 14 cover and bake at 350 for 25-30 minute.
