Souvlakia Anchent Greek Style

Total Time: 24 hrs 16 mins Preparation Time: 24 hrs Cook Time: 16 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5/8 cup grape juice
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 14 ounces boneless lamb or 14 ounces boneless chicken

Recipe

  • 1 peel the garlic cloves & cruch them.
  • 2 grate the onion and place with the garlic & oregano in a mixing bowl.
  • 3 add the the olive oil,grape juice and salt & pepper & mix thouroughly this is the marinade.
  • 4 cut the meat into 3/4 inch cubes and add to the marinade,making sure all the meat is coated.
  • 5 leave in fridge overnight,or at least 3 hours.
  • 6 thread the meat cubes onto skewers(at least 4 will be needed).
  • 7 heat broiler or barbecue & cook the skewers of meat for 10-15 minuites.
  • 8 turn the meat occasionally & brush with some of the spare marinade.
  • 9 check the meat is cooked though by removing one cube from a skewer & cutting it in 2. when ready server with salad & a dollop of greek yogurt.
