Tandoori-style Chicken

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 (3 lb) whole chickens, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 (8 ounce) container plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Recipe

  • 1 combine all ingredients in a large resealable plastic bag.
  • 2 set aside 1/3 mixture.
  • 3 place chicken pieces in the bag and gently coat them with the mixture.
  • 4 seal the bag and refrigerate turning the bag several times for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  • 5 preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 6 remove chicken from plastic bag and arrange on broiler pan.
  • 7 spoon the reserved mixture evenly over the chicken.
  • 8 bake for 50 minutes.
  • 9 preheat oven broiler, and broil chicken until well browned and juices run clear; about 5 minutes.
  • 10 this is also great on the grill.
