Turnip And Onion Hot Dish

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 lbs turnips (about 6 large)
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400 degrees f.
  • 2 peel turnips, cut in half lenthwise, then slice each half crosswise into thin slices.
  • 3 arrange alternate layers of turnip and onion in a greased 2 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  • 4 sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
  • 5 dissolve bouillon cube in boiling water and pour over vegetables.
  • 6 dot with butter or margarine.
  • 7 cover casserole with foil or lid and bake 1 hour 15 minutes, or until turnips are tender.
